THE GULLY

Step back in time.....

Rocky Gully lies deep within WA's Great Southern region, established in the 1950 the town was originally part of the War Service Land Settlement Scheme. The scheme aimed to open up new agricultural lands in the south west and also to help returning soldiers. Tales of hardship and the most iconic activity in rural Australia, Sheep shearing still echo in the abandoned sheds and Blue gum Plantations that were once scenes of a bustling industry where the great Aussie battler thrived and legends of the Gully were born.

Once upon a Gully

Formally Rocky Gully transport owned by local entrepreneur Brian Roberts the building was a hub for all things trucking. In its hay day livestock road trains rolled out of the site and a service delivering fuel to surrounding farms was a welcome site.

 

Fast forward too the present

Purchased in July 2021 the General store in now in the hands of Frank Cristinelli and his team of misfits. The Building has undergone a massive renovation inspired by its humble retro beginnings for the enjoyment of many generations to come. Frank and his team aspire to create a warm and friendly environment with wholesome food and great tunes along the Highway.

It is hoped that the recent development of viticulture in the Gully may bring more people back to settle here. The Rocky Gully Progress group which we are proudly a part of is currently working with the Shire of Plantagenet to upgrade facilities in the area so we can all enjoy a pit stop along the road that is life. We ask for your patience as we are a work in progress and any positive feedback will be warmly welcomed.
